Yoga Therapy &
Āyurveda Guidance
Yoga is a word coming from the verbal-root yuj, which means to join together, or, to unite. Yoga refers to the act of yoking, joining, attaching, etc. Yoga is a/any practice to join one’s Awareness more fully to the body, mind, and the eternal truth. This spans from physical postures, to breathwork, to mind/awareness management - to list only a small sample.
Āyurveda comes from Āyus + veda, which means “life/vigor” and “compilation of knowledge”, respectively. Thus the compound word is generally translated as “the science of life.” This ancient wisdom about life & health is profound. (I am only a beginner: an Āyurveda Health Counselor.)
Yoga Therapy is a therapeutic application of yoga techniques, and it also incorporates Āyurvedic knowledge. I share the belief of many wisdom traditions that true healing must happen at a level higher than the symptoms. E.g. if the body suffers from the wrong food, then we must change the mind to start providing the right food.
Yoga Therapy (YT) & Āyurveda are holistic systems of assessment and therapeutic practices for transformation, finding Peace, and supporting healing. Using these holistic systems we address the body, mind, and spirit of the individual.
